Training for new volunteers

If you fancy joining the Preston FM team as a presenter, producer or journalist, then you'll be interested in the next round of training courses for new volunteers, which starts in January 2011. The courses are designed for people new to Preston FM and give you the chance to learn all about community radio - from the knobs and buttons in the studio, through to how to prepare and present an interesting radio programme.

Once you've completed the course, you can then continue to volunteer with Preston FM (if you want to) as a regular presenter, community journalist, production role or in some other way. All courses are free, and we can cover travel and childcare expenses whilst you're volunteering with us in most circumstances.

There are three courses to choose from - all covering the same content:

COURSE 1 - 10am-5pm on Sat 22nd, Sun 23rd, Sat 29th and Sun 30th January

COURSE 2 - 10am-5pm, on Sat 5th, Sun 6th, Sat 12th and 13th February

COURSE 3 - (Reserved for Under 25 year olds) 5pm-7pm on Tue 25th, Thu 27th Jan, Tue 1st Feb, Thu 3rd Feb, Tue 8th Feb, Thu 10th Feb, Tue 15th Feb and Thu 17th Feb

To apply for a place on one of the courses, please give us a call (01772 880791) or e-mail ( neild@prescap.co.ukThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Let us know which of the courses you're interested in. You need to be registered with us, which you can do online using our on-line registration form.

The deadline for applying is 5pm on Monday 10th January 2011. We'll get in touch with you as soon as possible after that to let you know whether we can offer you a place on a course.

Shetland Live

As folk may know I have links to Shetland. Being in SouthRibble I want to enhance those links and am looking for folk from Shetland in and around Preston/Lancs.
I have been talking to Shetland Live' s Inga Scott about links and how we could enhance each others profile.

So, if any of you are in Shetland, fancy taking part in some radio stuff, at home or here, or you know folks here in Lancashire who may want to take part, drop me a line, either here, or shetlandpeat@hotmail.co.uk or on Shetland Live prifile shetlandpeat.

Look forward to hearing from you
